A. E. Backus Museum and Gallery

The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery, a 5,000 sq. ft. public visual arts facility, was established in 1960 by A.E. Backus and a group of local art enthusiasts. The museum features the Nation's largest display of original paintings by Albert Ernest Backus. The museum also handles consignment sales of Backus paintings as well as other Treasure Coast artists of merit. Four additional exhibition wings feature changing exhibits of artwork by contemporary artists.

Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast, Jensen Beach Florida
The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast offer children and families a place to explore and learn through hands-on, interactive activities. The Children's Museum exhibits include, Our Town Market where children will be able to role play shopping complete with shopping carts and checkout station, the Health Center where children learn about their body systems enjoying interactivities involving a healthy heart, digestive system, skeletal system, and the functions of the brain, a Car Care Center where children can change a tire, check underneath the chassis, role play and use hands-on tools, a Vet Clinic where children play the role of veterinarian, Mail Stop where kids will have an exciting time sorting and delivering mail, The Children’s Theatre complete with costumes for young actors, scripts for young writers and props, Welcome Aboard 16th Century Spanish Galleon where children will be able to load and fire the cannons while keeping the ship safe from enemies and learn to navigate through the open seas and chart a course,  Fire Truck a 1923 Fire Truck where kids pretend to be firefighters,  try on real bunker gear and imagine driving to a call, Railway All Aboard, an interactive train exhibit where kids push the buttons and bring the train set to life and Come outside and play in the Children's Interactive Garden and Learning Landscape, Workshop Stations, Butterfly Garden, Interactive Themed Garden Play Structures and Sculptures plus much more.

Courthouse Cultural Museum

The old Martin County Courthouse has been restored to its original 1937 architectural design and now houses two fine galleries and  host to local, regional and internationally renowned artists. Elliott Museum
The Elliott Museum was founded in 1960 by Harmon Elliott in memory of his father, turn-of-the-century inventor Sterling Elliott. Created to showcase the inventive genius of Elliott and the 'American spirit.' The museum, a 53-year-old Martin County institution, has undergone a major re-visioning as well. Focusing on art, history and technology, the Elliott Museum aims to tell the rich story of our region, capture the spirit of innovation that has left an indelible mark on the American psyche, and celebrate the power of originality. Permanent Exhibits include Wheels of Change the most comprehensive assemblage of Model A trucks in the world, Baseball Gallery the most comprehensive signed collection of baseball-related items outside of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, Treasure Coast History exhibit, Maritime History exhibit; Sterling Elliott Inventions exhibit, local resident and actor Frances Langford exhibit and host to many traveling exhibits.

Florida Oceanographic Society Coastal Science Center

Nature trails, 750,000-gallon Game Fish Lagoon, Sea Turtle Pavilion, Children's Activity Pavilion, Sea Star Touch Tank Pavilion, Rays on the Reef Ray Pavilion, Touch Tanks, Aquariums and the Frances Langford Visitors Center.

The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is located on Hutchinson Island. Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon, the 57-acre parcel houses the Society's headquarters,  With its coastal hardwood hammocks and mangrove swamp communities, the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center provides excellent opportunities for education and research aimed at increasing visitors' knowledge of these unique environments.

A great place to take this kids but fun and educational for adults too! A great time to visit the center would be during stingray feeding time where visitors can help feed the stingrays!

House of Refuge at Gilbert's Bar
House of Refuge at Gilbert's Bar is the oldest building on the Treasure Coast and the only fully restored House of Refuge in Florida. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the House (circa 1876) is a museum displaying historical maritime artifacts, personal items and furnishings belonging to the House's 'Keeper' and family, a model ship collection, AIS Native American artifacts and Shipwreck artifacts and much more! The House of Refuge is also a shipwreck dive site. Dive the shipwreck of George's Valentine. Free of charge.

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum offers climbing tours of the landmark 1860 Jupiter Lighthouse and exhibits in the waterfront History Museum located in the restored WWII Naval housing quarters building. Outdoor exhibits include the Lighthouse Keeper's Workshop, Tindall Pioneer Homestead & Seminole Chickee. Visit the Museum gift shop for history & Lighthouse books, clothing & fine gifts.  

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is located on a US Coast Guard base. Visitors are permitted access to the Lighthouse and Lighthouse grounds only on a guided registered tour through the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum. The admissions desk is located in the Museum gift shop. Admission includes Museum exhibits and Lighthouse Tour. Children must be at least 48" tall to climb the Lighthouse. Children under that height may still go on tour but will have to stay with an adult at the deck area of the lighthouse.

Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum

Mel Fisher, the World's Greatest Treasure Hunter famous for finding the largest underwater treasure find in history, the Nuestra Senora de Atocha and the Santa Margarita, the Spanish galleons that sank during a hurricane on September 6, 1622. His find included $450 million dollar treasure cache with over 40 tons of silver and gold, over 100,000 Spanish silver coins known as "Pieces of Eight", gold coins, Columbian emeralds, silver and gold artifacts and over 1000 silver bars. This was only roughly half of the treasure that went down with the Atocha. The wealthiest part of the ship, the stern, is yet to be found. 

Visit the Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum where artifacts and treasures are showcased including gold, silver, emeralds, jewelry and other recovered artifacts and treasures found on the famous shipwreck Atocha and Santa Margarita as well as the 1715 Shipwreck Fleet by Mel Fisher. The museum also is a working conservation laboratory used to preserve artifacts recovered from underwater with an observation window for viewing conservation work from inside the museum. Within the museum, visit the gift shop, where you can purchase artifacts and coins recovered from the shipwrecks. Or Dive the Atocha and go treasure hunting with Mel's team.

Smithsonian Marine Station and Ecosystems Exhibit

The Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit provides a window into the underwater world of the east coast of Florida's most diverse estuary in the United States - the Indian River Lagoon. Experience the unsurpassed biological diversity that lies below these waters. At the Marine Ecosystems Exhibit, visitors can explore six different Florida marine habitats and learn about the complexity and importance of marine ecosystems. The largest aquarium is a model of a Caribbean coral reef. Other displays include living models of seagrass, mangrove, estuarine and near shore habitats, as well as a deepwater Oculina coral reef. There are several smaller aquarium displays and a touch tank where you can meet some of our local sea creatures.

St. Lucie County Regional History Center Historical Museum

Enter the St. Lucie County Historical Museum through a replica of their early F.E.C. train station where volunteers will greet you. Then depart on a journey to discover the rich heritage of the Treasure Coast. Begin with a view of the first known inhabitants, the Ais Indians. Archaeological finds and DeBry sketches show their culture.

UDT Navy SEAL Museum

Dive into the secret world of Naval Special Warfare at The National Navy SEAL Museum and Memorial. Here you can explore the history of these legendary maritime special operations warriors. Get up close and hands-on with the specialized equipment used by Navy SEAL Teams—from the first operations of their legacy units during World War II to today’s high tech, high stakes missions.
